The One Left Behind

She was always the one left behind,
The one who took it all, erased from their mind.
Always there to listen, to wipe someone’s tears,
While the world shone bright, she hid her fears. She never spoke, so they thought she was fine,
Smiling on the surface, but breaking inside.
Every word, every gesture, given to others,
And no one saw the emptiness she carried under covers.
